Mrs Gallagher – Principal
Dear Families
Thank you!
Recently we celebrated our wonderful P&C Committee and volunteers for all the amazing work they do for East Butler Primary School with a morning tea put on by our very grateful staff to show appreciation for their tireless work that benefits all of our students. Each year the P&C contribute a portion of their funds raised towards much needed items for our school. We would like to thank the P&C Committee for their recent donation of $6500 which we were able to use to purchase 3 new outdoor tables with attached seating for our students which are now proudly in place around the school. A spectacular job done!
Staff
I would like to thank all teaching staff and Education Assistants for their never-ending support of the children with all their endeavours. This term has been challenging in so many ways and I wish them a very restful break and look forward to working with them again in Term 3.
Deputy Principals
Thank you to the Deputies who carry the school operations every day and support the students in many ways. I would like to thank them both for their diligence and hard work every day. I wish them a restful and peaceful break.
MCS and office staff
Without our MCS and office staff the school would not function as well. They are the first port of call for parents, and I see them every day showing empathy, understanding and great listening skills to attend to the parents and guardian needs. A big thank you to them all for the way they keep a friendly atmosphere and an efficient front office.
School Gardener
Thank you to Mr P for his earnest approach to beautifying our school. He does a great job of protecting the school when no one is here.
School Cleaners
Thank you to Sarah and her team of cleaners who have worked very hard this term. They always go above and beyond to ensure our school is spick and span. We appreciate the extra mile you go for our school each day.
Students
The very best of East Butler are the students. They feel very safe and happy at East Butler Primary School. All children work very hard at keeping the school clean and tidy. I love their beautiful manners, and the way they work together to resolve issues they have in the playground.
Parents
Parents thank you for the way you support the children in their journey throughout the school. I often hear parents asking children how their day was and suggesting ways they could make it better. They encourage helpful and friendly play and organise play dates for their children. I applaud the way you approach the office and our staff with respect and support. I hope this opportunity to spend valuable time with your children is a peaceful, restful and pleasant time.
We look forward to seeing you all next Term on Tuesday 18th July (please note that students do not attend on Monday 17th July).
I want to take this opportunity to wish all staff and students an amazing break and a restful one. Please keep safe and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 3.

Pocket Forest
We are so excited that each student will be part of planting 300 trees to create our pocket forest on the first day of term 3, Tuesday 18th July.
Keep an out over the holidays as the crew from Murdoch University prepare the area where the trees will be planted.
Freebie Friday!
This term we were delighted to receive some amazing donations from local communities which we were able to pass on to our families. We will continue to do this as and when we receive items through.
During one of our Friday Freebie days this term we were able to give away some food items and a large number of hand knitted beanies which I’m sure will be very much appreciated during this cold weather!

Term 2 Incursion
Strength Heroes Incursion – Years 3-6
Earlier this term, the children had a wonderful incursion from the team at Strength Heroes. Fiona Perrella, Resilience Educator and Founder ran the workshop. The program Fiona has developed focuses on building better mental health outcomes. Through Strength Heroes, Fiona has facilitated and provided families and communities a framework for open dialogue about feelings, and mental health with continual positive feedback from teachers, parents and students. In today’s workshop the focus was on how to develop children’s strengths, confidence, fine motor skills, curiosity and creative minds. In the workshop the children used clay to make an object that represent feeling of strength and power as a reminder of how to deal with life’s challenges. Also, ways in which to calm down when we have BIG emotions.
The Acronym BAT is way to remember to think and act helpfully.

Winter Interschool Carnival
East Butler participated in 3 winter sports at the interschool carnival and the students were amazing!
Winter Carnival - AFL
The mixed footy team played really well and there was some great game play and sportsmanship. Mr Rooker and I were very impressed with all children that played. We came 3rd in the competition!
Winter Carnival - Soccer
What an amazing day EBPS Interschool Soccer teams had on Friday. Both teams endured relentless wet weather and some pretty chilly winds up on Gum Blossom Oval, in Quinns Rocks. Though nothing could take the smiles off our students’ faces. We are so incredibly proud of all our soccer players, who brought with them their very best sportsmanship, and best efforts on field. A special shout out to our Captains Maronga Mutarisi and Miami Tepa and Vice Captains Noah Ola and Beya Baby who led our teams passionately throughout the competition.
Our boys’ team won two of their games and our girls’ team were undefeated in all games, bringing home with them the shield for 2023. Beya Baby deserves a special mention for scoring an impressive 13 goals over the day.
We are so pleased with all the players and ask you to join me in congratulating them on such an awesome effort. Go East Butler!
Mrs Allen
Winter Carnival - Netball
East Butler Netball Team took part in the Winter Carnival which was held at Butler College. The weather was not great but with a ‘Never Give up Attitude’ our team carried on regardless. E.B.P.S clearly displayed an understanding of fair play, integrity, and general goodwill towards their opponents.
Team B played with determination, vigour and demonstrated the skills needed to be great netball players. Team A had some tough matches and incredibly got to the final using their outstanding netball skills only to be beaten by Quinn’s Beach in the final. Congratulations to you all, you did E.B.P.S proud and thank you for all the parents who helped out on the day, your support is greatly appreciated.
Mrs Peskett and Miss Porritt
Faction Footie
This term some of our year 4, 5 and 6 students have been playing Faction Footy on a Tuesday at lunch time. It has been a fantastic term and the effort and skill has been amazing.
On Tuesday, 27th June we had the big Grand final with Gold Faction receiving 21 points (3 goals /3 points) winning against Green Faction (1 point).
Warm regards,
Mrs B

East Butler is a proud Act Belong Commit school! Term 3 is ACTIVE AUGUST!!! Keep an eye out for the posters around the school, with suggestion about how to keep active next term.
Volunteering can give people a purpose in life – which is a great contributor to one’s mental health. Helping out at the school canteen, or the footy club, or through Lions or Rotary, or visiting someone who is housebound, not only makes for a stronger community, but is good for your mental health. As a mentally healthy school, we have joined up with the ‘Act, Belong, Commit’ team and are looking forward to launching our Walk to School Wednesday in the month of August, coinciding with ‘Active August’. Put it in your calendars and dust off your walking shoes. Stay tuned for more information to come!
