Mrs Gallagher – Principal
Dear Families
Welcome to our latest edition of the school newsletter.
East Butler has had a lot of exciting events happening this term.
Open Night
Our Open Night was planned to coincide with Book Week. The classes were open for all parents to come and view the children’s books and work samples. It was very successful as the parents had an opportunity to talk to the teachers and the children were able to show their special work to their parents and carers.
This was accompanied by the library remaining open so parents could view the array of books for purchase and also some little stationery items for the children. Parents bought books for their children and enjoyed the display. It was a really enjoyable night and the school comes to life with our parents here. The children love having the parents and community in the school.
School Chaplain
We are saddened by the news of Mat the Chaplain leaving our school. Mat’s impact on our school is immeasurable. I know that our school community truly appreciates all that Mat has done for East Butler Primary. We are lucky and blessed that we had an opportunity to work with such an amazing individual.
We will miss you Mat and we hope that we hold a special place in your hearts. You definitely have a special place in our hearts and minds. We wish you well in your future endeavours and please feel free to stop by if you get a chance.
Term 4
Next Term the teachers will be preparing the children’s final reports and transition pathways into their new year in 2024.
All in all, it has been a great term and I’m looking forward to our fourth term. Many children have marked improvements in their work and their play. It will be wonderful to see how far they can progress.
Just a message for the children…” Keep safe, sleep lots and eat up to become strong and healthy”. Have a really fun holiday and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, 10th October, 2023.

Faction Athletics Carnival
Thank you to all the teachers, staff, students and parents for your participation in our most recent Faction Athletics Carnival. The participation, support and involvement by all who attended was incredible. A huge thank you to those wonderful parents who helped out with the pre-carnival events. I was very proud to see so much determination and sportsmanship throughout the carnival. It was an exciting day capped off by the parent, staff and student relay race. We will make sure to book this Novelty Race for next year's Carnival.
Well done to all involved and I truly appreciate all those special volunteers who helped us set up and pack away. The day could not have been a success without all of your assistance. To the Results!
Congratulations to the RED Faction our Overall WINNERS

Congratulations to our Spirit award winners the GREEN Faction

Sushi must be ordered before 9.00am on the Tuesday and on Friday sushi orders must be ordered before 9.00am on Thursday.
R U OK Day
In week 8 East Butler participated in R U OK Day? It started with an amazing assembly on Wednesday, from Room 12, teaching the whole school what to do when issues arise with friends! Please see some of the students work attached.
Sustainability Leaders
East Butler Primary School is a part of the ‘WasteSorted Schools’ program which encourages students to reduce, reuse and recycle waste and develop skills for long-term change. The sustainability leaders have been busy recycling paper and cardboard and using the students’ fruit scraps for the worm farms. It has been great to see the students taking on this responsibility and becoming eco-conscious.
Community Garden
As the weather has improved this Term, we have seen classes back in the Community Garden. The community members have been very eager to see students learning about growing their own food and have been sharing their knowledge with students.
The Great Vegie Crunch!
On Wednesday 13th September, after assembly, the students participated in The Great Vegie Crunch! All students had a vegetable and raised it high before trying to reach the ‘Crocodile Crunch!’ We were lucky enough to have a visit from the Vegie Person too!
Kindy 1 News
We have had a fantastic term and so much fun in Kindy 1. We have learnt some excellent movement songs such as "A Sailor Went To Sea Sea Sea" and "The Hokey Pokey". Our Talk for Write story started off as the Enormous Carrot and suddenly it was The Enormous Watermelon!! The children in Kindy 1 were even in the story and we dressed up as the characters.
To finish the term, Melon our class bear who goes home for a week with each child, brought along his family to meet our class. We had a teddy bears’ picnic and then the teddies joined us to play Farmer Sam. Great Fun!!
Happy holidays everyone and I look forward to the next term with the beautiful children of Kindy 1.
Warm regards,
Mrs B
Physical Education
Cricket Club
Junior primary has been enjoying specialist cricket lessons for the last three weeks. Students have been participating in lots of fun ball games. They have been learning about throwing overarm at the wickets, practicing catching and batting safely.
Breakfast Club
Week 9 was the last Breakfast Club with our wonderful chaplain Mat! He kindly bought in pancake mix and syrup for the students and the staff manned the fryers (see attached picture.) We will miss him!
Next term, breakfast club will return in Week 2 on Tuesday 17th October 2023! We hope to see you then.
ACT, Belong, Commit
Mentally Healthy
Act Belong Commit
Volunteering can give people a purpose in life – which is a great contributor to one’s mental health. Helping out at the school canteen, or the footy club, or through Lions or Rotary, or visiting someone who is housebound, not only makes for a stronger community, but is good for your mental health.

If you are looking for something to do on the holidays, check out the ABC activity finder link below.
Your Move
"Your Move Schools" is a community-focused program that supports schools and students to use active and sustainable transport options to and from school more often. Your Move offers teaching resources, expert advice and access to funding and rewards to encourage the school community to use bikes, walking, public transport and scooters to get to school safely.
At East Butler Primary, we have been a part of the Your Move initiative this year. We have been holding many events throughout the year to encourage active travel and it has been great to see so many families get involved.
